Love

With everyone around Quistis pairing up (Squall with Rinoa, Irvine with Selphie, heck - even Zell with the Library Girl), there's no doubt in my mind Quistis feels a tad bit lonely. So then I thought - what would happen if Rinoa wasn't in the game, leaving Squall right out in the open? What would happen if Selphie and the Library Girl disappeared? What if all the women in the game were gone, and Quistis could have her pick of whoever she wanted? This section was thus born, with the expertise of Dr.Love and my ingenious mind...it's more of a crack! section than anything else, really.

Squall Leonhart and Quistis Trepe

First off, Quistis and Squall are too much alike. They're both rather introverted, secluded, not outgoing - basically, if Quistis were a guy and Squall were a girl, they would be each other. Freaky? Because of their personalities, Squall and Quistis would need someone to reassure them in a relationship, not make them even more depressed because their partner is confused about him/herself. They'd make great friends, yes, but in a relationship, all would go downhill in my opinion.

Seifer Almasy and Quistis Trepe

I say: 100%! Dr. Love is wrong. Wrong, buddy!

Zell Dincht and Quistis Trepe

I say: If Seifer weren't a character, I'd probably agree.

Zell is probably my second choice as the most compatible-guy-for-Quistis candidate. Zell is a person Quistis can tolerate (as opposed to let's say Irvine), and Zell has immense respect for Quistis (which probably goes vice versa). I don't think I've ever seen them fight, and even though that can make a relationship a tad bit boring, it's probably a good sign in the long run. The only big qualm I have about them is that they would look weird together. Superficial? Sorry!

Irvine Kinneas and Quistis Trepe

I say: -50%. Irvine and Quistis as a couple is doomed from the start.

Quistis is (unfortunately) notoriously known for having a stick up her butt, and Irvine is notoriously known for flirting with anything with two legs and breasts. If Irvine and Quistis ever did become a couple (Hyne, help me), there is absolutely no way Quistis would put up with his flirting with other women. She's straight-laced, goes by the book, and probably won't appreciate any glances Irvine throws at other women.

All in all, I guess it's a good thing Quistis didn't hook up with someone by the end of the game - I'd only be happy if she and Seifer got together. Squall and Rinoa are too perfect to be broken up, Selphie seems right for Irvine (mostly because she doesn't have to work for his attention - she's had it from the start), and Zell and the Library Girl look good together. So if Square-Enix ever does fufill my wish of having some sort of Seifer-redemption-sequel-to-FFVIII game and make Quistis and Seifer a couple, I would worship the dirt their building stands on.
