Irvine Kinneas

An expert gunman and consummate lady's man.
An expert marksman from Galbadia Garden, Irvine is known as the "best shooter in Garden." His reputation for cherishing the company of women is almost as weel known as his accuracy with a gun. Although he seems to be insensitive and frivolous at first glance, he is in reality sensitive and serious.

I don't want to degrade Quistis, but she is rather prudish and straight-laced in nature. Irvine's antics as an overly flirtatious bachelor does not at first bode well with Quistis; she most likely thought of him as an irritating yet necessary addition to their team, since Irvine's initial role was to assassinate Sorceress Edea. In the beginning, much of Quistis' dialogue is to reprimand Irvine:

Quistis: Irvine Kinneas! You're playing a major role in this mission. Now behave yourself!
Irvine on the other hand, true to his personality, might have even had a little crush on Quistis; for a moment in the game, he was undecided as to who he should pursue. "Selphie, Rinoa...or Quistis... Selphie...Rinoa...or... Quistis.." is a constant mantra in his head until he finally chooses Selphie. Irvine has also never been exposed to the prodigal Quistis of Balamb, so her presence might not have had the same effect as on Squall or Zell, but I'm pretty sure there's still some underlying respect for Quistis hidden within Irvine.

When he reveals the truth about their childhood however, Quistis seems to become more accepting of him. She never really does approve of his behavior, though she tolerates it because she looks towards him as another little brother. All in all, Quistis and Irvine have a good relationship, as she is looking out for him, and they are seen laughing in the end.
