Final Fantasy Chances are, if you're involved in the gaming community, you'll likely hear of Final Fantasy more often than not. Before Squaresoft merged with Enix and became what it is today - Square-Enix - the company faced troubling times somewhere around 1987 and was even on the verge of bankruptcy. As a final farewell to the gaming industry, the company produced Final Fantasy, but as you can probably tell, it had quite the opposite effect the company was expecting - Final Fantasy I saved Squaresoft and became one of its following poster series.Over the years, the games have sucked in audiences with its amazing storylines and gorgeous graphics. Unlike typical sequels, each new Final Fantasy introduces different characters, worlds, and sometimes even a new system of gameplay. Any gamer would be able to get into the franchise by playing any of the Final Fantasies without missing out anything because each game is completely different (in terms of storyline) from another - with, of course, the exception of the influx of Final Fantasy VII-related games/movies/whatnot (Advent Children, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis, and I'm probably forgetting more) and Final Fantasy X-2.Sometimes the Final Fantasy series has even served as a guinea pig of sorts, as newly introduced features have been integrated into Square-Enix's other games. A lot of people may say that Final Fantasy in general is extremely overrated, and I say I might have to agree. But for people like me, whose souls are practically sold to Square-Enix, it's hard for us to overcome the "ooh" and "aahs" of the supercool!trailer scenes and amazing musical scores. Return: Quistis |
