Crimson Squad

With the threat of Sin, two groups were formed: The Crusaders, and a secret organization called The Crimson Squad. At that point, The Crusader's goal was to eliminate Sin, but the temples and the Yevon faith was so corrupt and knew the truth about Sin that the clouded the truth with lies; since the temples knew perfectly well about the truth of Yu-Yevon and Sin, they had to keep The Crusaders away from killing their source of power. They had convinced the crusaders to protect the people instead of killing Sin and become a part of Yevon's organization. The Crimson Squad was made to keep track of The Crusaders' doings. People of all races were invited to join both groups, however the Al Bhed faced discrimination and were only allowed to join The Crimson Squad.
Nooj, Baralai, Gippal, and Paine were all cadets that wanted to be recruited into the Crimson Squad together. Nooj acted as their leader, Paine their recorder, and Gippal taught the other three the language of Al Bhed. The four became friends. Soon, they found themselves before the final exercise needed to become actual members of The Crimson Squad: they were to enter a cave to investigate and report back to Maester Kinoc. Yet within that cave was the anger spirit of Shuyin. He went into everyone's mind and had all the candidates kill each other.
Luckily for Gippal, Nooj, Baralai and Paine, their friendship ties were deep and strong enough to survive the corruption. However, Nooj was a deathseeker and Shuyin possessed him. Shuyin knew he could use Nooj as a tool to finish off the job he could not had done in the past: to possess the weapon Vegnagun and wreak his anger upon Spira. Since he had acquired a puppet, Shuyin let the others escape. Shuyin would remain an unknown force in Nooj's mind until he was needed.
Inside the cave, all four of them learned of the corruption within Yevon and learned of Vegnagun. Instead of reporting to Maester Kinoc, they decided to run and flee for their lives. After the officials learned that there were four survivors, their capture and execution was ordered in order to contain their secrets. Since the group understood it wasn't safe to stick together, they agree to split up. Paine, Baralai, Gippal and Nooj had always trusted in each so much but Paine, Baralai and Gippal didn't notice the change in Nooj with Shuyin's spirit. When they were about to split up, Shuyin used Nooj's body and took the opportunity to shoot the three old companions.
After being shot, Paine, Gippal and Baralai somehow healed themselves and their trust with Nooj dimmed. Paine was confused about what happened in the cave and went on to find more about what happenned. She joined the Gullwings in order to try to find answers as to why the accident even occurred at all. Baralai went on to become the praetor of New Yevon. This "new" Yevon was made to stop the corruption in the temple and keep the Spirian interest within the religion. However, they hid the old secrets of Spira and the trust of Yevon from the people as well, and in time Yevon was proved to be a false teaching. Nooj created the Youth League that opposes the teachings of New Yevon and is determined to find spheres about Spira's past. Secretly, he was doing all of this under the command of Shuyin who wisesh to find the location of Vegnagun so he could use it to destroy Spira once again. Gippal was the only one who did not dig into his past with the Crimson Squad, and instead builds the Machine Faction. He spreads the knowledge of machina and their use to evolve Spira's life style. The base was founded at Djose Temple, where all machina parts dug up from Bikanel Desert are sent to Djose Temple for inspections.
