Relationships

Yuna Gippal almost seems fascinated by Yuna and her presence. If you visit Djose Temple in the first chapter of the game to apply to work in the Bikanel Desert, the mere sight of her makes him say "I've never been this close to a celebrity before." He's curious about why a High Summoner like Yuna would want to "dig in the sand all day." Of course, he doesn't ask, but just gives Yuna and the girls the job. He also has a lot of respect for the ex-summoner: he is prepared to give full credit and thanks to Yuna during his speech at Luca stadium.

Rikku Rikku is a fellow Al Bhed, and sequences in the game suggest that Gippal and Rikku were once romantically involved before the start of Final Fantasy X-2 (though you never actually really know, since Gippal could just be joking around). Gippal loves to tease Rikku and enjoys pushing her buttons, often calling her by "Cid's Little Girl" rather than her real name. If they were never romantically involved, or even if they once were, it's obvious that they have some kind of brother-sister relationship. Here for more information.

Paine Paine was on the Crimson Squad with Gippal, along with Nooj and Baralai. Paine acted as a recorder of their missions and conversations, which is how the Crimson Spheres came to be. Gippal taught Paine, Nooj, and Baralai how to speak Al Bhed. They're obviously good friends, as Paine doesn't seem all too keen of killing or maiming him everytime he refers to her as "Dr. P". After the accident, Paine joined the Gullwings to fly around Spira looking for answers to why the accident during their mission happened at all. Here for more information.

Mevyn Nooj Nooj was acted as the leader of the Crimson Squad that Gippal, Paine, and Baralai were in. He was the most distant, and the others in the group would make fun of him and try to loosen him up. Despite his intelligence and older-brother figure, Gippal doesn't treat Nooj any differently from anyone else. Nooj too has a nickname (The Noojster, Noojmeister), and in their first introduction, Gippal didn't even know who "THE Nooj" was. Following the accident, Nooj came out the worst, losing his left arm and leg. He then thought that the Temples were just using them and then formed and became the leader of the Youth League. The goal of the Youth League is to gain information from spheres from the Temples of Yevon and prove that they have always been up to no good. Here for more information.

Praetor Baralai
If I had to describe their relationship in one word, it would be brothership. They're much more on equal terms than anyone else in the game, despite Baralai's Yevonite heritage and Gippal's Al Bhed background. Baralai seemed to be Gippal's main companion in the Squad; they were always joking with each other, and the two probably had a close friendship. After the accident, Baralai went on to form New Yevon, and then moved on to become the Praetor (Leader) of the faction. Here for more information.
