Introduction

Final Fantasy X and its sequel Final Fantasy X-2 essentially tells the story of the love between Yuna, a young and caring summoner, and Tidus, an enthusiastic friend and blitzball player. In a nutshell, Tidus gets transported from his world's Zanarkand into Yuna's world of Spira by monster named Sin. Confused, troubled, and lost, he hurriedly decides to become Yuna's guardian during her pilgrimage in order to find out how to return to his world. In a rush of events (and I'm skipping over a lot), Tidus finds out that Yuna, as well as any summoner, is destined to die for the sake of Sin by summoning the Final Aeon, that he is merely a dream and doesn't really exist, and his own long lost father is Sin himself. A lot for a guy of seventeen years to take, isn't it?

However, Tidus bears through it all and eventually creates a plan to defeat sin without using the Final Aeon and without killing Yuna. During the final battle with Sin, Tidus is able to confront his father Jecht and defeat him and Yu Yevon, helping bring the Eternal Calm to Spira. His actions are not without consequence however, as he slowly fades away from his new home and new love, Yuna, thus bringing the tragic end of Final Fantasy X.

Final Fantasy X-2 brings back all the characters from before and introduces new ones, including Gippal. With the threat of Sin gone, the people of Spira are finally able to live life without fear. But it seems the Spirans are not content with this peace: various factions start forming everywhere because of different beliefs, and the three most prominent ones are the Youth League, New Yevon, and the Machine Faction. As the leader of one of these groups, Gippal leads a very busy life.

When Rikku, a spunky Al Bhed and Yuna's best friend, arrives with a sphere showing a man that closely ressembles Tidus to Yuna, they both form a sphere hunting group called the Gullwings - as well as making a new friend, Paine. On their journey, they continue to delve deeper and deeper into Spira's history - exactly who is this mysterious man, and what will happen of Spira's brewing troubles? When the threat of a dangerous machine named Vegnagun appears, apparently with a mind of its own, everyone will need to band together again.
