Al Bhed Displaying the characteristic blonde hair, swirly green eyes, and extreme love for machina, Gippal is easily distinguishable as one of the many Al Bhed people who populate Spira.Since the beginning of Final Fantasy X (and before), the Al Bheds were severely discriminated against by fellow Spirans and Yevonites for their usage of machina and belief in machina usage. According to these people, machina were "forbidden" and went against the teachings of Yevon. The Al Bheds originally resided in a place called Home, located in on Bikanel Island. However, a series of events lead to a scattering and diaspora of the people to different areas of Spira, and they haven't really been united since. The closest person the Al Bhed have to a leader is Cid, Rikku's awkward and animated father. The turning point in this outlook came during Final Fantasy X when the Crusaders begrudgingly teamed up with the Al Bhed during Operation Mi'ihen and used a powerful machina in hopes of terminating Sin. After the end of Final Fantasy X and during the beginning of Final Fantasy X-2, Al Bheds became more and more accepted by Spirans because their machina had a hand in saving the world from Sin. The Al Bhed people have and will always rely on machina heavily, and their curiousity leads them to develop newer and better ones (i.e. the Experiment that the Machine Faction builds). The Al Bhed aren't really religious, though they do believe in one saying: Memories are nice, but that's all they are. They don't dwell on the past, but instead look forward to the future. They also have a language very different to that of Spirans, and by collecting different encyclopedias throughout the world. But if you're really impatient, the Al Bhed language can be decoded as below:
